Do you believe in superstitions(迷信)?

Are there things that you do or won't do because it will bring you bad luck?

If you are superstitious, today is going to be a bad day for you because today is Friday the 13th.

Moreover, tonight there will be a full moon. This is a very rare event. The last time there was a full moon on a Friday the 13th was 14 years ago.

All cultures have superstitions. For Japan, the number 4 is thought to be unlucky, where as in the United States, it's the number 13. In both cultures, many companies choose not to have rooms or a floor numbered numbers like these.

Why is Friday the 13th such a popular superstition?-

In 1981, the first "Friday the 13th" movie was released in the United States. Although many of you may not have seen the movie, I am confident that most people, even in Japan, have seen or know about Jason and his mask.

Since the release of this movie, and the following 11 movies that would follow, it seems that people have increasing become cautious of today's date. I wonder if people would be so interested with this date if Hollywood had not made 12 movies showing us how scary it could be.

In the United States, there are many other superstitions that people know about. Below I have listed a few of the most popular superstitions.
1. Breaking a mirror
Breaking a mirror is thought to bring 7 years of bad luck.

    2. Opening an umbrella indoors
It is thought that if you open an umbrella inside a building, you are asking for bad luck to "rain down" on you.

    3. Black cats
If a black cat walks in front of you, it is thought to be a sign that you are going to be unlucky.

Besides Friday the 13th, what other superstitions do you know about? Are there anything that you feel that you can't do, or are there things that you feel you must do in order to "stay lucky"?
